FISHING CONDITIONS ON LAKES CADILLAC AND MITCHELL

FROM PILGRIM VILLAGE FISHING SHOP

SUNDAY, JANUARY 26, 2014

Is that dreded Vortex is back or was last weeks weather just normal arctic temperatures coming from Canada. We’ve got plenty of snow and ice.

Conditions couldn’t be better for the 30th North American Snow Festival, January 30 through February 2nd.

Snowmobilers start your engines.  The trails are being groomed on a reguler basis.

Ice Anglers start your power augers, because theres well over a foot of ice.  We’re preparing for a great festival.

Last week there was a shortage of fishermen.  We can handle the cold but very few wanted a compete against the wind.  Even after anchoring their shanties, some had problems keeping them from going airborne.  Can’t compete with wind gusts in the 30/40 MPH range.  Those who did go out deserved to catch fish.  Even the Dark House guys with their permanent shanties were AWOL.

There were no changes in the Pilgrim Village Spearing Contest.

Standings as of 1/26/14 are:

1st Place     Fred Miller          34 1/8″          8.64 lbs.

Yeah… This picture kind of sums it up.. Lol As you can see, it’s the dead of winter in Northern Michigan. High of 9 degrees for the weekend, with wind chill temps in the -10-20’s…. Video games??? Well, maybe, after we put a hurtin’ on some Michigan Steelhead!
