Warm Weather Continues to Dominate

image

Traverse City- Warm weather continues to dominate as hunting is at a standstill as deer are moving late. Fishing is good with salmon fishing at peak and perch fishing good with many lakes producing.

FISHING CONDITIONS ON LAKES CADILLAC AND MITCHELL

FROM PILGRIM VILLAGE FISHING SHOP

image

Wow, lately its summer in October!

Most fishing crappie has been successful. No change, the east side of Cadillac is still the place to find them. Nice catches from those using small minnows or jigs. Lately they’ve been about a foot off bottom.

Bluegills are getting harder to find. A few have been reported from the High School area on Cadillac, or west of Kenwood Park.

Pike have been aggressive. Fish the edges of the weed beds with spinner baits. Both lakes are good. Go for the numbers on Mitchell and usually larger ones on Cadillac.

Large and small mouth bass-either lake. Mostly large mouths lately. The water temperatures still in the low sixty’s. Follow the summer patterns.

Perch-water’s warm, they must be deep but no reports of any of any size.

Walleye-if anyone’s catching them, we haven’t heard.

Manistee River-Fill your freezer. The river at or near peak. Still some fresh ones coming up. Flies wobble glos, spawn, spoons or plugs, there’s enough salmon that all methods are working.
