We are getting closer to ice fishing many lakes. Otsego Lake today had 3 to 4 inches of ice, there were shanties on the lake today. Manistee Lake by Kalkaska has 4 inches of ice and a few guys on the lake, also Crawford Lake they are fishing.
Lakes Cadillac & Mitchell
We gained a little bit since the last check on Tuesday. Off Kenwood park on Lake Cadillac we’re between 3-4″. West side of Lake Mitchell out of Camp Torenta had about 4” but it was probalbly 3/4 white ice. Behind us on the East side of Lake Mitchell there is almost 6″ of white/clear ice that stretches out a couple hundred yards before it tapers back down to 3-4″.
Traverse City they are fishing Spider Lake, Arbutus Lake and Long Lake by fife Lake.
Houghton Lake they are on East Bay and there was a shanty out there today.
Lake Saint Helen they are back out with 5 inches of ice. A couple anglers fishing in shallow waters caught some bluegills, crappie and the odd walleye. Caution needs to be used.
Lake Missaukee they are fishing some of the canals and shallow Bays.
Muskegon Lake: The docks have been pulled at the Grand Trunk launch, so boat anglers will need to bring waders. Schools of gizzard shad slowed the walleye bite; however, those trolling about 25 feet down along the ledges and along the south end near the Milwaukee Clipper have caught a few big ones.
Perch fishing in Ludington, Pentwater, White Lake and Muskegon is done till ice as the lakes are starting to freeze.
